Who we are

The primary goal of the Information Hub is to promote excellence in the fields of information science and technology by facilitating education and cutting-edge research to further the economic and social development of the country. The hub consists of four key thrusts, namely Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science and Analytics (DSA), Internet of Things (IoT), and Computational Media and Arts (CMA), which work collaboratively together in a streaming pipeline to develop students' skills and drive innovative research.

What we can provide for our students

To provide world-class education and conduct cutting-edge research with practical applications in information science and technology that not only advance regional development, but also make a global impact. The Hub primarily comprises four thrust areas: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science and Analytics (DSA), Internet of Things (IoT), and Computational Media and Arts (CMA). We will achieve this through cross-disciplinary research and education in collaboration with other thrust areas in our Guangzhou campus and related programs in our Clearwater Bay campus.

What you can expect for Summer Camp

The Summer Camp PhD Admission in Fall 2024 is organized by Information Hub and supported by Thrusts of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science and Analytics (DSA), Internet of Things (IoT), and Computational Media and Arts (CMA).

In this academic summer camp, you will not only experience the campus life guided by current PhD students, but also have the opportunity to meet professors face to face and to commit to PhD programs in our four thrust areas early in the application season. We welcome students from diverse backgrounds, ranging from Computer Science, Statistics, and Engineering to Business, Design, and the Arts to join us.

Target Group and Enrollment:

Current senior undergraduate or master students (Potential applicants to INFH PhD programs in the 2024-25 intake) who are highly motivated and passionate towards scientific research and equipped with solid research skills.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Potential applicants to Information Hub PhD programs in the 2024-25 intake
  • Applicants should be ranked in top 30% in a related field from a recognized institution and/or can demonstrate strong research ability or research record.
  • Having obtained a relevant bachelor’s degree or master's degree, or going to receive the degree certificate by July 2024.
  • Applicants should be proficient in English:
  • TOEFL: not lower than 80
  • IELTS: not lower than 6.5
  • College English Test CET-6: not lower than 520
  • College English Test CET-4: not lower than 550

*Applicants are not required to present TOEFL or IELTS score if they obtained the bachelor's/master's degree (or equivalent) from an institution where the medium of instruction was English.

Application Materials

  1. Complete the online application form
  2. Upload Identity Document, Latest Transcript(s), Proof of English Proficiency, and CV to the system.
  3. Upload Degree Certificate(s), if you have obtained Bachelor’s or Master’s degree before; Upload Proof of Ranking, Research Proposal, if applicable.

Note: All materials must be authentic, Fabricating will lead to the withdrawal of admission

Offer Issuance

  • Excellent Participants will be recommended offer and invited to submit application via Online Admission System.
  • Excellent Participants will be awarded certificates by the Information Hub.

Scholarships

Successful applicant with a full-time firm offer will receive Postgraduate Studentship of RMB 15,000 (applicable for 2023-24 cohort) per month during the normative program duration (3 years for holder with a relevant research master’s degree or 4 years for holder without a relevant research master’s degree).

Additional Information

  • The application fee is exempted for summer camp applicants. 
  • The university will provide accommodation, meals, and other relevant resources to admitted students during the summer camp.
  • HKUST(GZ) will provide insurance for admitted applicants during their stay on the campus. All students must comply with the relevant regulations issued by HKUST(GZ) and Information Hub for the Summer Camp.
