Job Prospect
With the continuous development of the Internet, big data, cloud computing, the IoT and other technologies, artificial intelligence is leading technological innovation and industrial change, with broad prospects for development and application. At present, China's demand for AI talents has exceeded that of the United States, a major AI country, and there is an extreme shortage of talents. HKUST (Guangzhou) has seized this opportunity, based on the Greater Bay Area, aiming to cultivate high-quality AI talents for the whole country and even the world. The employment prospects of AI graduates will be very broad, and the fields can involve smart manufacturing, business intelligence, smart healthcare, smart city and so on.
Program Structure
120 credits are required for BEng in Artificial Intelligence:
♦ 30 credits for University Common Core Courses
♦ 85-86 credits for Major Requirements, including:
o 21-22 credits for Fundamental Courses
o 40 credits for Major Required Courses
o 24 credits for Major Electives Courses
♦ Free Elective Courses can be used to fill in any shortfall in total credits

Student's Pathway
At HKUST(GZ), students can develop their own student's pathway according to their personal interests and specialism with Academic Advisors.
Normative Pathway Example 1 - 2023 cohort and onwards
In Year 1 and 2 students will enroll in Fundamental Courses according to their interests and background as well as courses in other areas to fulfill the Common Core Program requirement. In Year 3, students can declare their major in Artificial Intelligence and have Domain courses starting in Year 3.
